The Story...

After a long uncomfortable day at work on Wednesday my feet were extremely swollen. I went home and B was great and got me set up on the couch to relax while he made dinner. When dinner was done I got up to go to the bathroom before eating. When I stood up there was a pop and a gush. I sat back down on the toilet and it felt like I was still going to the bathroom, but I wasn't. I called B in and told him my water broke. The lucky man had already had a few bites of dinner. So we headed to the hospital.

When I got to the hospital they checked to make sure it was my water, which it was and told me I wasn't going home until I had a baby. The Dr came in and checked me and I was 3cm and 50% effaced. The dr said that being that my water was broken I would have to have her within 24 hours, but she was going to let me labor naturally through the night and see where we were in the morning.

Throughout the night I walked the halls and send several hours in the tub with the jets. At some time in the morning my midwife came in and checked me again and I was 4-5 cm and 90% effaced. They decided to let me go a little longer on my own. I continued to walk around, and got in the tub again. Around noon or so things started to progress faster. Some time in the early afternoon they checked me again and I was 7cm. The rest is kind of a blurr. At one point during transition I got a shot to help me rest a little between the high points in the contractions. Once transition was over I started to kind of pass out between contractions until I was ready to push. I did end up asking for the epidural when I was ready to push because they wouldn't let me push until the Dr. got there and it hurt so bad no being able to. My mom asked me if I really wanted it and I said no I just wanted to push already. When the Dr. finally got there they got me ready to push really fast. After an hour an a half of pushing they laid my beautiful baby girl on my chest. With the stats below we were all surprised that I had no ripping or tearing or anything.

The Dr. was amazed that I was able to labor on my own within 25 hours. Lillian was born at 6:56pm on Thursday 4/23. She weighed 8lbs 4oz and was 20.5 inches long. And she had a 14inch head! I have to say I'm very glad she didn't make it to 40 weeks. There's a good chance she would have been near 10lb, but I'm not sure if her head would have gotten bigger or not.
So there's my story. I'm so glad I didn't get the epidural and I don't know if this is a good or bad thing, but I thought transition was way worse then actually pushing her out.

Nothing Yet!

Well B's all about helping me get her out! I'm so glad cause I was starting to feel like he didn't want anything to do with me in that sense. And well even if it's just cause he's excited to get her here I don't care. Either way it hasn't worked yet.

We went to breakfast/brunch Saturday morning and had our usual waitress. Well she just had her second little one last summer and she was telling us about how both her and her sister used Castor oil to induce labor and it worked for both of them. So yesterday B insisted that we stop and get some. I'm a little nervous about using it though. The side effects can be horrible and I don't really want to go through that if it isn't going to induce labor.

Any suggestions??? Stories from peoples' experience with it would be great (please mention how far along you were)

Friendship Award

I was presented this award a few days ago by the wonderful Kimbosue. She certainly deserved the award too. And I'm happy to say that while I'm writing this she is being induced and should meet her little Peanut soon!

The award is very self explanatory. Kimbo considers me to be a friend and now I get to pass this along to 8 of my blogging friends. Thank you all in advance for giving me support and words of encouragement when I've needed it. And listening to me ramble on about nothing at times.

With no further ado, and in no particular order, I give this award to...
Beautiful Mess
Becki
Fiddle1
Mandy
Steph
Jenn

And I know there are only 6 on there, but I have so many friends on the WTE May TLT board that have listened to it all! You are all truly considered my friends, even if we haven't met in person.

In other news, I'm 38 weeks today according to me. I have an appointment here shortly where I'm hoping to get some sort of news on how soon this little girl will be here. So for now I'll leave you with some pictures...

OK so I didn't get this done before my appt. so I may as well tell you about it. It wasn't anything major but she said "I'm ready whenever the baby's ready" YAY!!!! And then I asked her in what way I can prepare my body for this and her response was "for labor or to induce labor?" I of course said both. The obvious for labor is exercise. 30 minutes of walking a day. And SEX!!! She informed me that 50% of the time a good orgasm and ejaculation on the cervix will induce labor with in 24 hours. She also said that she will start checking my cervix at the next appt and if I'm dilated enough she will loosen my membranes. And on the positive side also she said she won't let me go more than a week overdue without trying to induce.

So there you have it. B helped get her in there, now he needs to help me get her out!

Less than 3 Weeks!

I hope anyway!

I know I've been slackin' but the truth is I've been miserable lately and don't even feel like blogging. Plus I don't want this blog to become nothing but a bunch of complaints for the next 3 weeks. (I'm really being optimistic and saying that's all I have left.)

I had my appt on Thursday and all is well. She didn't do an internal and I was fine with that. She said the most amazing words... "Call me when the contractions are 5 minutes apart." This was instead of the old line "Call if you have more that 4 contractions in an hour for 2 or more hours". In other words, if labor hits, I'm good to go!!!

Now the problem is getting my contractions to stay consistent. This morning starting about 7:15 my contractions were every 7-10 minutes for 2 hours and then of course, they went away. It's getting really uncomfortable. I really hope than when I do get checked there is some sort of change cause I'm so uncomfortable from all these contractions it's making me miserable and tired! I feel more tired now that I did in the 1st trimester. Oh and did I mention my nausea is coming back...

As for the weekend, Saturday night was amazing!!! We rented a hotel room with a jacuzzi tub so I got to take a nice long warm bath with back massaging jets and all! I could have stayed in there forever I think, it was so relaxing!

I'm off now, I'm done complaining. Oh and because of my miserableness and tiredness, I haven't loaded my 37 week pics on the computer yet.

L&D: Act 1

Well yesterday was our first trip to L&D.

I knew she wasn't coming last night, but I also knew I had to do something about the contractions. They started around 9 am and got more frequent throughout the day. I have no idea why they wanted to stop them, I plan on asking my mw on Thursday. Turns out anyway that they weren't causing me to dilate so it's not a big deal that they stopped them. I'd been having them all day but I guess I'm still closed. She also said my cervix is very high. I think its time to start with the EPO.

So they gave me a shot of Trimodal I think it was. And I hated it!!! It made me all shaking for like 2 hours. Let me tell you it was hard texting with the damn touch screen phone. So the shot slowed them down to 4-6 minutes rather than 3 minutes. The nurse came in and said I still had keytones in my urine (not sure what they are yet) so they needed to give me another bag of fluids (I already had 1) so that was half done and I had to pee so she tested for keytones again. They went down a little. They let me eat and changed me to a different bag of fluids with more sugar in them. Apparently that helped cause after 2.5 bags of fluid, a tuna sandwich, and some pudding the keytones were gone and I hadn't had a contraction in a half hour.

Apparently I need to drink more water. So today my goal is to drink 20oz every 2 hours. Sounds doable right? Way harder than I thought, and guess what, the contractions started again at 8:30. I hope I can get enough water in to get them to stop on their own.

No News

They say no news is good news right? Well whom ever coined the phrase didn't think about pregnancy. Well I suppose it can still be considered good news at this point, just not exactly what I wanted to hear.

I had my 36 week appt. on Friday and well it was no different than any other of my last few appts. She told me that she doesn't generally start doing internals until 38 weeks unless she feels there is a good reason, which she obviously didn't think there was. She told me not worry about my contractions unless they stay steadily 4 in an hour for two or more hours after changing activities. She also hinted that she would still be calling it preterm labor. Whether or not that means she would stop it or not she didn't say and I didn't ask.

I've been getting several questions on what they are estimating her weight to be and I'm starting to get really comfortable with the fact that they haven't given me any estimate. At this point I'm glad I'm not freaking out about possibly giving birth to a 9lb baby. And besides, like my aunt said it's all about head size, not so much weight.

Yesterday I woke up with menstral like cramping and it didn't go away for a few hours so I called the Dr. office to make sure it was ok. She said as long as I wasn't bleeding or feeling wet I should be fine. Thankfully after a few more hours it went away and my contractions never picked up. We had a nice Easter Meal with B's family and then played outside with the kids down stairs for a while. Well B did, they were playing dodge ball and I didn't think partaking in the fun was a great idea. So, I installed Lillian's carseat. I'm so ready for her to be here now!

Well that's about all going on. We made a few rearrangements in her room, but I'm not going to post any new pictures til it's finalized. But here is a pic of my belly at 35 and 36 weeks. I think I finally stopped growing!

And I almost forgot, I've added a guessing game for when everyone thinks little miss Lilly will be arriving, please join in the fun!
